After years of playing in various bands that never really got off the ground, I decided to strike out on my own just over a year ago, with my first gig in Kilmarnock’s Fanny by Gaslight pub. Since then, I’ve been gigging very regularly in and around Glasgow, with slots at the Oxjam Glasgow Takeover festival, Sloans Lounge Act, Elba Sessions and the Liquid Ship’s Free Candy Sessions.
I’ve also been featured on Jim Gellatly’s new music podcast a number of times, as well as his weekly show for Amazing Radio, where he has dubbed me “Scotland’s answer to Frank Turner”. I’d say I have a ways to go yet, but it’s really flattering, coming from Jim. I’ve also had airplay from the likes of Subcity Radio and Smoke Radio, as well as Glasgow Podcart. I’ve also recorded live sessions for the podcart, Jim Gellatly and Subcity.
I’m not afraid to incorporate humour into my music, though it isn’t always intentional. Sometimes it’s just the best way to express certain aspects of life. As the song I’ve submitted for a free download shows, I tend to write about the things I care about; often, the things that make me angry. I really love playing music for people and I’ll keep doing it for as long as I can.
Aside from that, I love sandwiches, beer and plaid shirts. Easy pleased.
