This Is A Public Service Announcement…
Hey people,
We are writing to request a few moments of your time to ask you to consider making a donation to Strummerville. However small, all donations are greatly received and really help us to continue our work.

85p in every £1 donated to us goes directly into supporting new music, nurturing new talent and developing projects and programmes. All of which offer opportunities to people through music who would not normally have access to this type of help.
Our expenditure:
♦ 55% support for new music and emerging talent
♦ 30% support for projects and initiatives that give opportunities to people through music
♦ 15% running costs
As long standing Friends of Strummerville you know the kind of work we do and we hope that you feel part of a movement that is making a real difference to people’s lives through music.
We have set up two options for you to donate via online or text:
| Option1: Online | Option 2: via Text |
|
Donate any amount via our secure PayPal account (you don’t need a Paypal account to do this) |
All you need to do is text STRU01 + the amount you want to donate to 70070 for example, text: STRUM01 £10
|
Alternatively if you would like to organise a Strummerville event in your own town with local bands in order to raise money for the charity please download our Fundraising Guidelines →

We are very proud to announce that Darren Ager is helping to raise funds for Strummerville by taking part in the ‘Run To The Beat’ marathon that takes place on Sunday 26th September 2010.
Darren: “I’ve decided to run my first ever half marathon in aid of Strummerville. Joe & the Clash meant a great deal to me during my youth and music still plays a big part in my life. Indeed Joe is now a hero to my 13yr old son so a new generation continues to carry the torch!”
We have set up this button (via PayPal) where you can sponsor Darren.
About Run To The Beat
Now In its 3rd year, Run to the Beat starts and finishes at the O2 Arena and takes runners 13 miles around Greenwich. With 16 specially designed music and DJ stations along the way, Run to the Beat is a great event for both runners and music lovers, and is a great alternative to The London Marathon.

We are very pleased to announce Zoe Robertson will be doing a bike ride to Glastonbury Festival to raise funds for Strummerville. We asked Zoe why she decided to do this, “I like Strummerville and think it serves an important service that not enough people know about.”
The sponsored bike ride will last 3 days and a total of 150 miles, to assist with accommodation Zoe will be couch surfing (via couch surfing.com), the mileage has been calculated using Google Maps and will be taking cycle routes from Greenwich all the way to Glastonbury Festival camp site.
Zoe said, “I’m just testing out my limits for distances in a day and may decide to try to do it in two days. For now, though, the plan is to take 3 days, see some lovely folk, and enjoy the scenery.”
The planned route is:
- Greenwich to Reading on Sunday, June 20 (49 miles)
- Reading to Corsham on Monday June 21 (60 miles)
- Corsham to Glastonbury on Tues June 22 (39 miles)
- Arrive at Glastonbury site on Wednesday June 23 late morning early afternoon.
We have set up a sponsor button (via PayPal) where you can sponsor Zoe.
We would like to thank Zoe and wish her the best of luck!
Loads of love,
Strummerville x
About Zoe Robertson
Zoe plays violin and is a graduate of Trinity Music College with a Bachelor of Music and came across Strummerville via the band, Handshake. Zoe said, “I have to admit, I didn’t really know much about Joe Strummer before joining Handshake and finding out about their connection with Strummerville. Since then, though, I’ve developed a real soft spot for all things Joe.”

Thanks to Mauro and crew for organising their sixth benefit for Strummerville. The tribute takes place again in Bologna, the town in which The Clash had their first Italian concert on June 1st 1980.
This years bill includes 12 great bands with Rude Boy star Ray Gange spinning a DJ set [details on MySpace]
Also in the evening there will be live painting by artist Giuliano del Sorbo continuing with the presentation of the book “I wanna Riot” with author Luca Frazzi , with a reading on the Clash lyrics by Andrea Merendelli (author and director of Clash To Me).
The night will also pay tribute to the experience of the anti-racist label 2 Tone Records (really loved by Joe Strummer) in the year of his 30th anniversary (1979-2009).
Thanks again to Mario and the crew in Berlin for their support and another benefit for us on Joe’s anniversary.
