“If you’ve not been to Strummerville before, then you need to go. If you’ve not been to a Frank Turner show before, then you need to go. Having them both in one place results in a phenomenal event, but I can’t help but feel that every Strummerville show has this kind of magical atmosphere; with an anything-goes attitude towards musical talent, this line-up would not be repeated anywhere else in England, such is the diversity of genres on display, and it results in a liberating atmosphere that just makes you feel free… This is how music should be enjoyed, with anyone and everyone welcome, and anyone and everyone going home happy.”

Of the other bands too numerous to review thoroughly, a couple truly stand out – the electro-pop of Bastille, and the energetic not-quite-sure-what-but-there-was-an-awesome-saxophonist performance by The Joker And The Thief.

The Supernovas“They don’t make them like The Supernovas any more. The four-piece cut a Holloway swagger right through the poshest precinct in town but arrived at the shop on time, pint of Gaymers, Sherman button-downs and Fred Perry.” |

Nimmo and the GauntlettsSometimes music moves you to look back in the past. Philip Larkin, groping his way to bed after a piss, comes across the moon through the curtains: “The hardness and the brightness and the plain / Far-reaching singleness of that wide stare.. |

Real FurAccustomed to the soothing odour of fabric softener and gently ruminating washing machines, Real Fur seem a little startled to be playing to the thoroughfare of rush hour Piccadilly. |
